SDLG Wheel Loader niveleuse G9190

Comprising wheel loaders, compactors and motor graders, SMT Ghana has delivered 11 SDLG units to Munck Civil Engineering to help build the Danida bridges in the West African country.

With the aim of improving highway infrastructures to encourage economic growth and improve living standards, SMT has delivered a LG968F wheel loader, two L956F wheel loaders, three G9190 motor graders and five RS8140 compactors to Munck Civil Engineering in Ghana.

The machines are being used for road building, as well as in the construction of seven composite bridges – the Danida bridges. Work on the project began in October 2018 and is set to finish in October this year. During the construction period so far the machines have proven to be well-suited for the project, due to their versatility and resilience. Two further machines have been purchased since the initial 11, proving their usefulness.

Versatile and reliable

A discussion with Felix Ofosu-Kontoh, Sales Director of SMT Ghana, shed some light on the effectiveness of the equipment. The machines have been tropicalized to suit the hot, dusty climate. However, as Felix notes: “The machines have been very efficient and had minimal downtime since they were put to work.”

SDLG machines were chosen for the project due to their stand-out benefits. “SMT is ready to support our client on site, travelling up to 10 hours by road to the site if necessary, in order to provide the best service. This is why the client felt that SDLG was the best choice,” comments Felix.

Unlike some actors in the region, SMT -official SDLG distributor – has a strong aftermarket focus, caring for the products long after the deal has been done. “The expertise and aftersales that we provide is unique,” says Felix. “We have Volvo-trained technicians who really understand the SDLG machines and can attend to any model at any time.” Fast response time is of the essence, establishing SMT as a company that cares about its clients and products.
