The training was to acquaint the operators with the new Volvo paver P7820D, to enable the safe operation and the efficient utilisation on their road construction projects of 100 kilometres of roads within the Northern, North East and Savannah regions.
The training included theoretical as well as on-the-job practical training, enhancing understanding of the machine systems and functions, controls, features and daily/weekly maintenance. 12 people participated.
Lead facilitator was Thattaruparambil Narayana Abhaikumar, Volvo Application Engineer Paving and Compaction for EMEA, based in Germany. He was assisted by the SMT Ghana team including Leonardo Aguiar, SMT Technical Director, Jasper Agbakpe, SMT Training Manager and some SMT Service Managers and Technicians.
In a post-training interview, Leonardo Aguiar said conducting such training for clients upon purchase of a product is an important ritual by Volvo Truck and SMT Ghana to update clients to keep up with the current trend on specifications on construction equipment and trucks.
He was optimistic such technical training will boost maximum utilization of products for a good return on investment.
