SMT Senegal, Dakar | Regional Training Center
Located at the base of SMT Senegal in Dakar, the SMT Africa Regional Training Center represents a significant investment in strengthening local capacities and improving technical skills in the field of mining & quarry, construction, transport of people and trucks. The center has modern facilities and state-of-the-art equipment to offer high-quality training to industry professionals.

The team, composed of three trainers for operators and drivers and a technical trainer, will operate in the former offices of SMT Senegal, converted into a training center. On the first floor, 2 offices were gathered to create a classroom of about 50 m².
It is equipped to accommodate up to 10 people, a multimedia touch screen, a camera to organize remote training, 8 didactic models for practical work on original Volvo Group electronic components and a hydraulic educational terminal. Other practical activities take place in the workshop of SMT Senegal, with a dedicated span during the training.
The Regional Training Center will offer a full range of training programs tailored to the specific needs of the industry, including driving courses, the use and maintenance of trucks and machinery intended for operators and technicians of SMT customers in Senegal and, having a regional dimension, customers in neighboring countries, including the site where these customers operate.
Training, repair, spare parts management and safety programs are also being developed to train SMT Africa Group technicians and employees.
Participants will have the opportunity to learn about the full range of products offered by SMT Africa: trucks, dumpers, loaders, excavators, generators, etc.
We offer different trainings for your drivers and operators for your mining, construction, quarry, transport of goods and people, covering all the premium brands that we distribute (Volvo Construction Equipment, Volvo Trucks, Volvo Bus & Marcopolo, Volvo Penta, SDLG, etc.)
In order to allow your employees to receive training adapted to their knowledge and objectives, 3 levels with several modules are proposed:
- Level 1: Getting Started
- Level 2: Development (Eco driving, etc.)
- Level 3: Training and updating your own trainers
We also offer you to train your technicians in basic maintenance and maintenance procedures according to the manufacturers’ recommendations so that you can keep your equipment in the best possible conditions.
In collaboration with industry experts, SMT Senegal has developed innovative training programs that integrate modern pedagogical approaches, linking practical and theoretical learning. These methods will allow participants to acquire in-depth technical expertise and become familiar with the latest technological advances in the sector.
The Regional Training Center is also in partnership with the Sectoral Centre for Vocational Training (CFSP) in the Mechanical and Motor Vehicle Trades. The CFSP is based in Diamniadio and trains mechanical professionals. A Volvo engine has been offered to the CFSP so that its students can train on it and hydraulic components will be given to them; and the Regional Training Center aims to provide additional training to their trainers.
The opening of the SMT Senegal Regional Training Center marks an important step in strengthening local expertise and promoting Senegalese know-how in the field of mining & quarry, construction, transport of people and trucks. The trainings will start in June 2023, with a collaboration between the local training teams and the technical support teams of the headquarters in Brussels.
